Julia Almeida Joins Prime Law Group
We are excited to announce the hire of attorney Julia Almeida. Julia’s main practice is in family law. In addition to family law, Julia has experience in criminal defense, bankruptcy, and probate matters. Furthermore, she was a child prosecutor for the McHenry County State’s Attorney Office. It is her broad range of skills which help her aid her clients in their legal matters. At Northwestern she completed the divorce mediation training, allowing more options for her clients. Therefore, she has a solid understanding that all families are different, and that certain people may desire different paths to their goals. Lastly, Julia is seeking the completion of the collaborative divorce program in September 2021.
Court Appointed Special Advocates Program (CASA)
Ms. Almeida has also worked closely with the Court Appointed Special Advocates Program or CASA. Starting in law school she was a CASA advocate for 2 children in the DeKalb County system. Later, as an attorney, Julia was a CASA volunteer attorney. Likewise, Julia has a close relationship with CASA management and has spoken advocate at many legal training sessions.
Education Background
Beginning her collegiate career at the University of Illinois, Julia received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and German. In addition to speaking German fluently, Julia also functionally speaks Spanish. In between college and law school, Julia worked for an attorney seeing the legal system from the eyes of clients she worked with in Champaign. Next, she would go on to study at Northern Illinois University College of Law and graduated cum laude. While at Northern Illinois University College of Law, Julia was awarded the Peskind Memorial Award for outstanding work in Family Law. After graduating, Julia has completed various mediation training programs to assist her clients in family law matters.
Julia's Hobbies
Now an empty nester, Julia enjoyed cheering on her children in the various activities they partook in growing up. When Julia is not hard at work for her clients she enjoys biking and hiking the trails of McHenry County. Prior to Covid-19, Julia enjoyed traveling, and plans to get back to it as Covid calms down. In addition, Julia enjoys tennis and gardening, two things she says she improved on during the pandemic.
